Day-wise Itinerary

DAY-1 Arrival in New Delhi

Upon arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, you will be escorted to your hotel. During the late afternoon, you will start your visit of New Delhi which would include going past and visiting historical monuments including the Indian Parliament, Qutab Minar, India Gate and other closeby monuments seeped in history.

This bustling city is the best combination of the age-old and the contemporary era. Delhi has two distinct parts – New Delhi, the city created in 1911 as the imperial capital of India by the British and the Old Delhi, the Muslim capital of India between the 17th and 19th centuries.

DAY-2 New Delhi to Shimla ( 12 Hour Train )

Today you will take an early morning train to Shimla reaching Shimla in 12 hours, of Himachal Pradesh, which also is subsequently the largest city of the state, also famously the capital city known as the summer capital of British India. Famous for its colonial architecture and churches, the city is also an educational hub. After reaching Shimla by evening, you will check in to the Hotel for a relaxed evening ahead. You can also optionally opt for a walk at the famous Mall road.

DAY-3 Shimla Sightseeing

You will start your sightseeing of Shimla with a visit to the Jakhu Temple which is on top of a hill. Trekking up to the temple is one of the most enjoyable activities. You can also visit the Gorton castle, which is one of the most austere buildings of the city. A visit to the ridge, the center of Shimla, will give you a comprehensive view of the city and its lifestyle. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery while you aboard the toy train from Shimla to Kandaghat.

DAY-4 Shimla to Sarahan ( Height of 1920m ) 190 km ( 6 Hour Drive)

After breakfast, you will drive via Kufri, Narkandha and descend to Rampur, erstwhile Himalayan kingdom of Rampur Busheher. You will continue to Sarahan, the summer capital of the Rampur Busheher. You will visit the 1500 years old temple from where one gets a magnificent view of the Shrikhand peaks.

DAY-5Sarahan to Sangla — Chhitkul —Sangla ( 3450m ) 140 km ( 5 Hour Drive )

The gate way to Kinnaur, Today you will leave for Sangla , also called Baspa Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys of Kinnaur dominated by Kamru fort. You will visit the villages of Chitkul and Rackchham having typical kinnauri architecture. You will visit the fort and village.

DAY-6Sangla to Recong Peo - Kalpa ( 2290m ) 38km ( 2 Hour Drive )

After breakfast, you will leave for Recong Peo, the district headquarter of Kinnaur. You will visit the monastery in town ; from which the majesty of the Kinner Kailash mountain is in direct vision, regarded as one of the mythical abodes of Lord Shiva . After visiting the monastery you will be back to the camp site or guest house.

DAY-7Recong Peo to Tabo via Nako (3050m) 167 km ( 7 Hour Drive )

Today you will be entering the restricted area, for which inner line permit and passport will be checked at check post at Jhangi. You will then drive towards the Spiti area via Khab where the Satlej river joins in to the Spiti river. Nako, the most charming village offers a magnificent view around. To the north of the village is the monastic complex belonging to the Drugpa order.There will be another check post at Sumdo, driving through several villages, you will reach theTabo Monastery which was founded in 996 A.D., often referred to as the Ajanta of Himalayas. Tabo sanctity is next only to Tibet’s Tholing gompa in the Trans Himalayas Buddhism.

DAY-8Tabo to Kaza (3600 m) 58 km via Dhankar and Lalung, Pin Valley (1:30 Hour Drive)

Today you will move towards Kaza, with a visit to two Gompas namely Dhankar and Lalung. Dhankar, the ancient capital of Spiti king is the most incredibly situated gompa, perched high on barren rocky mountain slopes. Lalung, the second most interesting monastery of Spiti. By afternoon you will reach Pin valley, known for its national park (house of snow leopards and ibex). Kungri gompa is the main centre of Nyingmapa sect in Spiti.

DAY-9Kaza ( 3600 m ) 46 km visit Kye and Kibber (4200 m)

After breakfast you will leave to visit the famous Kye gompa perched high on a pyramid like mountain, belonging to the Gelugpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism .Kibber is one of the highest permanent inhabited village in the world, situated at the elevation of 4200 m located in a semibowl-shaped narrow valley. By evening you will return to Kaza the sub divisional headquarter of Spiti . Explore the tiny town during the night.

DAY-10Explore the hidden areas of Spiti ( 4500 m )

Today, after breakfast you will go down to visit the hidden areas of Spiti, starting with the uphill road till Langza to visit the village. Post that you will go to Komik village, known for one of the highest monasteries in the world and for fossils. After lunch stroll to collect the fossils and later in the day, you can visit the locals to understand their lifestyle. By evening you will be back to Kaza.

DAY-11Kaza to Manali ( 2000m ) 196 km ( 7 – 8 Hour Drive )

After breakfast, you will head towards Manali, through several villages of the Spiti Valley, with the last village being Lossar. In the way you will find a short uphill drive till Kunzum pass (4700m) offering extensive views of the snow capped mountains. You will continue to Chandra valley over Rohtang pass (4050 m), the gateway between Lahoul / Spiti and Kullu “Valley of God”.Descend by the snake-curved roads through the pasture of wild flowers and forests of silverOak & Fir, accompanied by waterfalls till Manali.

DAY-12Manali Sightseeing

After breakfast you will start your visit of old Manali village and Manu temple. Next you will visit Hadimba temple, which is in the middle of cedar forest along with the Shiva temple. In the afternoon you shall visit Vashisht hot springs. Evenings will be free to visit the local markets.

DAY-13 Manali to Chandigarh ( 8 Hour Drive )

After your breakfast, you will leave for Chandigarh, which is one of the most scenic routes giving you some breathtaking scenaries during the way. You will reach Chandigarh by evening.

DAY-14 Chandigarh Sightseeing & Chandigarh to New Delhi ( 3.5 Hour Train )

After the traditional Punjabi breakfast of Aaloo Paratha and Lassi ( Yogurt Based Drink), you will explore Chandigarh, which is the capital city of Punjab and one of the most well planned cities across the world. The city primarily has a sikh majority community with about 60 % population being Sikhs. You will start your visit with the famous Rock Garden, known for its rock carvings. The other places of interest would include the Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake and lunch at the Elante Mall. In the evening you will head to the Railway station for your train to New Delhi.

DAY-15 New Delhi Airport

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward destination.
