Maldives is a South Asian island country located in the Indian Ocean, in the Arabian Sea. It’s an archipelago of numerous atolls. Male is its capital and is also known as the King’s Island.

Coconut occupies a major part in many of the dishes. Other main dishes that make up the Maldivian cuisine are rice and Garudhiya, a fish broth served with rice, lime, chilli and onions.
